This summer, I learnt to sail
with Nigel, Tom C, Charlie G and Rhian

It was the best skill I have ever learnt.

It wasn’t easy, but like all skills, it comes with practise. Just remember, persevere and you can do anything! I certainly was not keen on falling into the reservoir or getting wet at first, but I had made friends during this course that made me feel confident and [I admit] less worried about capsizing. I would recommend this to anyone, because as long as you have fun and just enjoy, it, you’ll find yourself at a sailing event, having the time of your life!

Members First Aid Course TBA

The first aid certificate is valid for 3 years and Instructors must hold a valid first aid certificate to teach

When you are out on the water accidents can happen. You may find that you need to help someone until professional help can reach you. In such an emergency first aid knowledge can save lives. This course is just as relevant for not only those involved with the first aid on the water, but also for those everyday situations that may occur.

This course covers all basic injuries and illnesses such as, headaches, sunburn, cuts, grazes, and sprains, progressing to learn how to deal with emergency situations that you could find out at sea, concentrating on resuscitation (CPR). You will also learn about first aid care for man overboard victims, including dealing with shock, hypothermia, unconsciousness and head injuries. This is an extremely worthwhile course, a must for every sailor.
