DutyMan

WHAT IS DUTYMAN?

Cransley Sailing Club, like an increasing number of clubs in the UK use an online DutyMan system to simplify the management of duties.

The system provides CSC members with their own individual password and logon ID enabling them to:

  • confirm that they will attend for a duty
  • volunteer for additional vacant duties
  • offer to swap with a member
  • request a duty swap

Sailing times:
April to October Saturdays & Sundays on the water at 2.30pm to 5pm
March and November Saturdays & Sundays on the water at 1.30pm to 4pm
Tuesdays on the water at 7pm to 8pm (April to September)

Buddy sailing/SUP
There must be at least 2 boats and if supping, 2 SUP’s on the water (adults 18+) if you are sailing/Supping out of sailing times. The aim of buddy sailing/SUP is to look after each other, so please do not go out in weather conditions you are not confident to sail/SUP in.

CSC members are required to participate in their share of race and boat duty, as without everyone doing this we cannot run the club. We are all volunteers and your help is appreciated To facilitate the operation of these rotas we have subscribed to an external online system called ‘DutyMan’.

NEED MORE INFO?If anybody needs help or wishes to discuss duty issues please contact Stuart Pybus at the club or by emailing dutyman.cransleysailingclub@gmail.com

If you find you are unable to do your duty at the last minute please ask for a replacement via the club’s WhatsApp or contact Stuart on 07795 122743

Remember it is your responsibility to find someone to swap with you if you find you are unable to do the duty allocated to you.

Your duties are important in providing a safe and secure environment for sailing, your failure to attend could have serious consequences

This is an ‘outside’ service we subscribe to that deals with duty allocation. It works on a personal password system.

OOPS! DUTYMAN WON’T LET ME IN?
Members may use the password that they received. Do not confuse this password with the member’s only section of the web site.

New members are emailed their login name and password when first loaded onto the DutyMan server. Thereafter you can change the password via the Password menu of the main roster page. If you forget the login details, you can request that they be emailed via the Don’t know name or password? link in the login panel of the main roster page.

We have found that it is best to ‘cut and paste’ your membership log in password that DutyMan has sent you. This is because the default fonts on some people’s computers can make the password characters look different to how it was sent to you, i.e. a 1 in your font can look like an l in another persons font.

I AM TOO BUSY TO COMMIT TO DUTY DATES

Mark your dates as swappable and later swap with someone who has done the same. Don’t forget you may also swap with a ‘position vacant’.

Doing a duty allows you get to know people and get a greater understanding of how the club is run. Many members do more duty hours than sailing hours yet they renew their membership year after year. To them, it’s not an onerous task, duties can be interesting and fun.

TOP TIP
Do not tick the ‘confirm duty’ box until you receive an email reminder 7 days before your duty. On receipt of this email please then go onto the rota and confirm your duty. This lets us know you have received a reminder and that you are aware of your duty.
